The 18S rRNA is one of the basic components of fungal cells, and comprises both highly conserved and hypervariable regions. EasySeq™ 18S rRNA and Cyp51A Kit allows for the identification of fungi, including Aspergillus species and Cyp51A mutation (Azole resistance) status, based on the simple workflow of Reverse Complement PCR. Azole resistance among Aspergillus fumigatus, one of the most important opportunistic fungal pathogens in humans and causing aspergillosis, has increased notoriously; an emerging clinical problem due to treatment limitations for this disease.
