A Thulium fiber laser (TFL) emits photons with a wavelength of 1940 nm, which are strongly absorbed by water. Holmium (Ho:YAG) lasers, the current gold standard for stone lithotripsy, are being replaced with thulium fiber lasers (TFL).
Using TFL technology reduces retropulsion while ablating the stone, making it an excellent dusting tool. Particularly for calculi of low and medium hardness.
A treatment can be accelerated once the pulse energy(up to 2500 Hz) and pulse duration are determined.
A compact design makes it easier to perform O.R. with greater efficiency.
Capable of supporting 50–150 µm fibers (significantly smaller than the smallest 200 µm Ho:YAG laser fiber currently available)
