A Diode Array Detector (DAD) can add a lot of useful information in addition to the electropherogram. It creates spectra during the runs. These spectra be used to identify the peak, provided that a spectrum is available in the spectrum library. It is also very useful as a tool to determine peak purity. Only the slightest separations of two compounds that seem to form one peak, which can be detected if, the spectra of both compounds are sufficiently different.
The spectrum can also be used to determine the optimal wavelength for the detection within one run. When using a UV-VIS detector it would be required to analyse a sample several times at different wavelengths to find the optimal wavelength. Like all DAD, the PrinCE-C 700 series, and PrinCE Next|870 and PrinCE Next|875 data are processed with special data acquisition software. Diode Array Detectors are available in two wavelength ranges i.e. 190-610nm and 190-1010nm. DAx 3D is used with the PrinCE-C 700 series. The PrinCE Next Clarity DAD or PrinCE Next Clarity DAD Advanced are used with the PrinCE Next|870 and PrinCE Next|875.
