Vagistop in Gynaecology:
Treatment and prevention of vaginal bleeding and haematomas after vaginal surgery or after trauma.
Replaces the use of vaginal tamponade with gauze. Inflation with air.
Recommended inflation volumes for gynaecological use: 60 to 180 ml depending on vaginal size.
Vagistop in Obstetrics:
Treatment of postpartum vaginal tearing haemorrhages and prevention of postpartum vaginal haematomas.
Replaces the use of vaginal tamponade with gauze. Inflation with air.
Recommended inflation volumes for obstetric use: 240 to 480 ml depending on vaginal size.
Vagistop, when inflated to adhere to the vaginal walls, maintains an internal pressure of approximately 50 mmHg, which is higher than the pelvic capillary pressure of 21 to 48 mmHg.
The balloon has been tested up to a maximum air inflation of 500 ml.
