The Brucella Antibody Competitive ELISA Kit is based on competitive ELISA, to detect brucella antibody in serum, plasma samples, which is rapid, accurate and easy-to-operate. The test time is 60min. The target brucella strains include B. abortus, B. melitensis, and B. ovis, etc
Background
Brucellosis, also known as undulant fever, Mediterranean fever is a zoonosis and the infection is almost invariably transmitted by direct or indirect contact with infected animals or their products. Expansion of animal industries and urbanization, and the lack of hygienic measures in animal husbandry and in food handling partly account for brucellosis remaining a public health hazard. Expansion of international travel which stimulates the taste for exotic dairy goods such as fresh cheeses which may be contaminated, and the importation of such foods into Brucella-free regions, also contribute to the ever-increasing concern over human brucellosis.
Introduction of Brucella Antibody Competitive ELISA Kit
The brucella antibody ELISA kit is based on competitive ELISA to measure the amount of brucella specific antibodies in bovine/goat/sheep/swine serum. In the kit, brucella LPS antigen is pre-coated in microplates. During the assay, samples are added to the microplate wells, brucella specific blocking antibody is also added. If brucella specific antibody is present in sample, it will compete with the blocking antibody for coated LPS antigen on the wells and forms an antibody-antigen complex. Unbonded antibody will be removed with a wash step. Later HRP conjugated is added to combine with the brucella specific antibodies captured in the wells.
