SCREEN TEST CAMPYLOBACTER
Campylobacter Rapid Test
REF: SC-0463-10
Rapid test for the qualitative detection of Campylobacter in human stool samples. For professional in vitro diagnostic use only. The Campylobacter Rapid Cassette Test (Feces) is based on the use of a membrane technology with colloidal gold. A nitrocellulose membrane is sensitized with a direct anti-Campylobacter antibody. The specificity of the test is guaranteed by a specific antibody for a Campylobacter antigen conjugated with colloidal gold. Campylobacter enteritis is a zoonotic disease, transmitted through food and water, and is one of the most common causes of infectious diarrhea in the United States. While identification of the causative agent does not typically affect treatment outcomes, as most of these infections are self-limited, laboratory diagnosis is essential for epidemiological studies and for monitoring the outbreak through identification. and strain typing. Conventional laboratory diagnosis of campylobacteriosis is based on the recovery of the organism from stool samples by microaerophilic culture. Current recommendations regarding Campylobacter recovery require cultures to be stored for a minimum of 72 hours before confirming a negative result [3]; however, recent laboratory monitoring by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that, of the laboratories surveyed, 66% reported negative results at 48 hours, while only 33% reported negative results after 72 hours [4].
