What is a TOCO transducer?
A TOCO (short for tocodynamometry) transducer is a pressure-sensitive fetal ultrasound transducer system designed to provide contraction frequency and length of uterine contractions during labor. Medical Conduit carries name-brand compatible fetal ultrasound transducers, including Philips TOCO transducers and GE TOCO transducers.
Where is the TOCO transducer placed?
TOCO transducers are placed on the mother’s abdomen over the strongest contractions.
How does a TOCO transducer work?
A pressure-sensitive tocodynamometer is placed on the mother's abdomen over the area of strongest contractions to measure uterine contraction length, frequency, and strength. TOCO transducers are used alongside fetal heart rate monitoring equipment so the results can be examined and compared side by side.
