Medoks is a long term synthetic, absorbable, monofilament, sterilized surgical suture composed of polydioxanone (PDO) and is available both dyed (violet) and un-dyed (Milk White) Characteristic Properties • High knot tensile strength • Perfect strength retention for extended wound support • Excellent flexibility • Easy handling • Easy penetration Physical Properties • %65 – %70 retention of initial tensile strength at 4 weeks • %50 – %60 retention of initial tensile strength at 6 weeks • Complete mass absorption takes place essentially within 6months Contraindications Medoks is contraindicated for indications, where prolonged support (beyond six weeks) of the wound closure by the suture material is required.
