Flexicult® Human is an aid in the diagnosis of Urinary Tract Infections (UTI). It is a specialised agar plate containing antibiotics for easy interpretation, analysis and handling.
Product description
After culturing for approximately 18 hours it is possible to do a quantification at the same time as the determination of resistance of the pathogenic bacteria.
Flexicult® is designed as an agar plate with elevated sides and divided into compartments with partitions and a lid. There is one large compartment for quantitative analysis
and 5 small compartments each containing a specific antibiotics: Trimethoprim, sulfamethizol, ampicillin, nitrofurantoin and mecillinam.
Urinary testing for right antibioitc treatment from the beginning
Color indication and quantification for bacterial identification
Easy interpretaton based on colour change and size and amount of colonies
Less need of broad spectrum antibiotics
How to use
Patient with symptoms of urinary track infection (UTI) provides an urinary sample
Mark the sample with patients name and date of collection
The urinary sample is added to agar in the Flexicult® plate by a pipette – 0,3 mL in the big field for counting and 0,1 mL in the fields of antibiotics.
Tilt the plate to divide the urine all over the fields.
Add the lid and incubate the plate bottom up at 35 °C over night.
Interpret the plate after 16-24 hours
Determination of colony forming units/mL urine
Amount of colony forming units is interpreted in relations to the pictures in our Instruction For Use. (Please find our IFU under Downloads below. ) If more than one pathogenic bacteria species is present, each bacteria species is interpreted separately.
