The Stapleline retriever bag is a sterile disposable instrument and consists of a flexible plastic bag with a large, easily accessible opening, a guide bar with a thumb ring and an insertion sleeve. Special highly tear-resistant PU material prevents liquids from leaking out the recovery bag. The HSD retriever bag is used in endoscopic surgeries such as radical prostatectomy (EERPE), the removal of the prostate: the surgeon unfolds the bag in the inside the visceral cavity and closes it with a knot once the tissue has been retrieved.
Such retriever bags, which are also called endobags, are also necessary for other operations in which a resectate must be retrieved. The flexible metal ring that opens the retriever bag is made of a nickel-titanium shape memory alloy.
