Indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation
Nylon exhibits: Uniform diameter of the suture, Maximum flexibility of the strand, Excellent and consistent knot security, Minimal memory
MONOMID® Nylon Monofilament Non-Absorbable Suture
Monomid® is a non-absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of the long-chain aliphatic polymers Nylon type 6 or Nylon type 6/6.
Nylon exhibits:
• Uniform diameter of the suture
• Maximum flexibility of the strand
• Excellent and consistent knot security
• Minimal memory
Monomid® suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological procedures.
Due to the gradual loss of tensile strength that may occur over prolonged periods in vivo, nylon surgical sutures should not be used where permanent retention of tensile strength is required.
TENSILE STRENGTH
As with any nylon suture, though not absorbed, progressive hydrolysis of the suture in vivo may result in gradual loss of tensile strength over time. Nylon suture should not be used where permanent retention of tensile strength is required.
