Ideal for the analysis of breast milk composition
The Automated Milker provides researchers the ability to collect rat/mouse milk directly from the teat. The Milker collects milk from lactating mothers by alternating negative and atmospheric pressures through two solenoid valves and a vacuum pump attached to a microcomputer.
Environmental pollutants, in particular carcinogenic substances and endocrine disrupting chemicals, are a worldwide concern. The influence that these substances have on babies and their development, through breast or cow milk, is of great concern. The ability to gather milk from rats and mice, widely used experimental animals, will aid in advancement of research in this area.
