Description

Absorbable hemostat for haemostatic procedure during surgery with than 800 000 products manufactured per year and CE approval since 2003. Hemostatic pad made from non-denatured, freeze-dried, resorbable native collagen type I, extracted from calf hides. Our absorbable hemostat , preserves its integrity in a damp atmosphere, allowing our hemostatic pad to be handled easily during application. HEMOTESE® is a high capacity hemostatic pad , as the manufacturing process keeps the helicoidal structure of the collagen intact. In its native form, collagen has a specific effect on haemostasis. When bovine collagen type I comes into contact with platelets, it causes them to cluster and form clots of fibrin. In vitro tests were conducted on the blood of 3 donors to evaluate the performance of HEMOTESE® compress compared to a reference product made of oxidized regenerated cellulose. Clotting time is faster with the HEMOTESE® compress than with the gauze of oxidized regenerated cellulose HEMOTESE® is a fast-acting local haemostatic patch. When applied on a haemorrhage site, HEMOTESE® stops blood flow in 2 to 6 minutes depending on the amount of bleeding. In vivo-tests regarding HEMOTESE® absorbable hemostat we conducted on pigs on a spleen and liver lesion model. The hemostasis time is more rapid with our hemostatic pad compared to the gauze of oxidized regenerated cellulose HEMOTESE® hemostatic pad is resorbable. It may be left in situ after bleeding stops if conditions warrant. It is nevertheless recommended that excess compress be removed once haemostasis is complete.
