Together with the stationary CUVETTE 50 the compact laser diffraction sensor HELOS/BR forms a particularly suitable combination for wet measurement of small amounts of finely dispersed samples with particle sizes ranging from 0.25 µm to 875 µm. Typical applications involve substances that are very intricate to manufacture, therefore valuable and only available in small quantities. Due to their active or toxic properties, special sample handling is often required, and measurements need to be managed with very low particle concentrations.
The geometry of the 50 ml stationary cuvette produces a long optical path for the laser beam (over 20 mm) in the sample liquid, thereby enabling the optimum concentration for reliable measurements – even with low sample concentrations. An integrated ultrasonic finger made of titanium can be manually lowered into the cuvette as required. The energy input for dispersion can be precisely controlled from 0 to 60 W by the software. The necessary homogenisation of the sample during the measurement is achieved with the aid of a PTFE-coated magnetic stirrer with adjustable speed.
The cuvette consists of high-grade optical glass and all joints are sintered, so it is extremely chemically resistant and suitable for most dispersing liquids. Potential contamination of the sample is effectively prevented, as a result of which complete recovery and reuse of the sample in its original state is possible even after the measurement. The stationary cuvette also promotes simple and safe filling and makes cleaning effortless.
