DE-KO is a minimally invasive disc removal system that utilizes the Archimedes’ principe of the screw pomp in order to remove the part of the nucleus.
The procedure requires only local anesthetic, can be performed both on the cervical and lumbar segment of the spine and is effected via percutaneous access.
The quantity of materiale removed is form 0,5cc up to 1cc and the entire procedure can take from 20 minutes to maximum 60 minutes.
Discectomy procedures demonstrate success of nucleus removal relieves pain in over 70% of cases. Symptoms’ recurrence level after MIS discectomy is low.
Extra-pedicular approach minimizes permanent structural changes by eliminating entrance into spinal canal. Laminectomy or any other bone removal procedure are not required. Percutaneous approach may reduce surgical complications rates.
Removed volume of nucleus pulpous depends on patients tissue structure. Even small decrees of disc volume may result significant improving of patient pain condition. Successful outcome of disc surgery reported to be independent from volume of disc material removed.
DEKO is available in two versions: lumbar and cervical with different diameters to fit surgeon’s preferences.
