The ESL-Emerald-8 is the first of the Ezer ESL-Emerald slit lamps to incorporate a convergent binocular microscope for greater light-gathering power than that of Greenough designs. Japanese optics and build ensure first-rate image quality. The precise magnification and focus of the oculars, together with the tower illuminator and adjustable slit beam, make the ESL-Emerald-8 a mainstay of the comprehensive evaluation of every anatomical eye compartment. The "3 Steps" ESL-Emerald-8 derives its name from the adjustable magnification power obtained by the simple rotation of a 3-step drum. The 10x, 16x and 25x objective grant detailed observation of the eye, making it an efficient instrument to screen for ocular pathologies. This slit lamp model offers a 12° convergent stereo view with high resolution. The pupillary distance is adjustable to a wide range (53 - 83 mm) compared to other models allowing for a more pleasant patient experience. The efficient design of the instrument incorporates a built-in C-mount where a camera can be attached for capture of observed abnormalities and easier record keeping. The ESL-Emerald-8 supports tower illumination from either halogen or durable Ezer LED sources.
