A post-pump, semi-rigid annuloplasty ring which enables ring diameter fine tuning and optimization of leaflet coaptation on a beating heart under real-time echocardiographic guidance.
Cardinal Key Advantages:
CE certified since 2011
Provides Surgeons the ability to optimize results
Off-pump fine tuning enables to maximize optimal leaflet coaptation, while avoiding SAM (Systolic Anterior Motion)
Allows more Mitral Repair operations instead of replacement
Less experienced surgeons can perform repair by eliminating the risk of wrong sizing
Same procedure and user experience as standard annuloplasty rings
Implantation and suturing of the Cardinal is very similar to that of regular annuloplasty rings, performed through the left atrium. The only difference is that the ring is attached to a patented ergonomically designed, flexible handle which enables the surgeon to control the ring size.
Once the heart re-starts, fine tuning of the ring diameter may proceed under echo guidance, before the handle is remotely detached from the ring and pulled out of the atrium.
The Cardinal ring is suitable for open chest as well as minimally invasive procedures. The ring perimeter covers the same size range as other commercial rings (24-40).
