It inhibits nucleases such as DNAse and RNAse in the medium. It also contains magnesium-binding substances needed by these enzymes, which can cause problems in molecular diagnosis. VTFOR Viral Transport Medium is used to ensure the amplification of nucleic acids desired to be isolated from samples taken from cells or various microorganisms by methods such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
