Monopolar resectoscopy is the traditional method for removing uterine mucous membrane or little myomas. The electrode carries the positive current, the neutral electrode is attached to the patient.
Irrigation solution is free of electrolytes. The method is considered to be faster than the bipolar method, but also carries some disadvantages: Current is flowing through several tissue layers, which can result in severe burns. Additionally the TUR syndrome is quite common.
