The PreFix fixator is designed to provide temporaryexternal fixation. This may be needed when locafacilities or the condition of the patient do not permitdefinitive fixation. Immediate stabilisation of long bone fractures in thelower limb is now an established part of theresuscitation process. High energy fractures with orwithout articular involvement frequently requireemergency stabilisation to allow soft tissue recoverybefore definitive fixation. The PreFix fixator is designedto allow the surgeon to: -Position screws where the condition of the boneand soft tissues permits； -Reduce the fracture in order to restore alignment； -Stabilise the fracture to allow the patient to bemoved safely, either to a different location or toallow more urgent matters to be attended to.
