Intended Use:
The kit is used for in vitro qualitative detection of group B streptococci in genital secretions and rectal secretions samples.
The scientific name of group B streptococcus is Streptococcus agalactiae. It is a facultative anaerobic gram-positive streptococcus that normally lives in the reproductive tract and rectum. It is a conditional pathogen. According to statistics, 10%~30% of pregnant women are infected with group B streptococcus, and 40%~70% of them will be transmitted to the next generation during the birth process. Group B streptococcal infection causes neonatal sepsis, meningitis, pneumonia, etc., and the mortality rate is extremely high. It is currently one of the most important pathogens causing neonatal infections.
The laboratory tests of GBS include:
1) GBS isolation and culture;
2) serological methods;
3) nucleic acid amplification test.
The kit developed by Tianlong is suitable for pregnant women who are 34 to 37 weeks of gestation. The test result of this kit is suitable for the auxiliary diagnosis of GBS. It is for clinical reference only and cannot be used as the basis for diagnosis or exclusion of cases.
