Results are for the identification of Herpes simplex virus type e. HSV1 infection is a highly contagious infection that is common and prevalent around the world. Most HSV1 infections occur in childhood and continue throughout life. The vast majority of HSV1 infections are oral herpes (infections in or around the mouth, sometimes called oral or facial herpes).
