PPO-Elektroniikka Oy
Who we are
PPO-Elektroniikka Oy specializes in safety technology. We have been solving our customers' technical challenges and problems since 1981. All of our solutions improve safety and minimize and prevent damage. Our primary solution is the fifth-generation MEV®-8 Medical Insulation Monitoring System, which improves the electrical safety of critical hospital group 2 facilities such as operating rooms and ICUs.
The MEV®-8 system description
MEV®-8 Insulation Monitoring Equipment consists of four devices: MEV-8, FI-8, LC-8 and SP-8, shown on the product page.
MEV-8 insulation level monitoring device monitors the insulation of a floating IT network (leakage current), transformer load (current A) and temperature (°C).
SP-8 System monitoring panel indicates any insulation level alarms, line controller alarms, test lead faults, transformer overloading, and temperature alarms.
LC-8 Line controller monitors the continuity of a floating IT network's protective earth.
FI-8 Fault locator unit locates any insulation faults in a floating IT network.
Insulation monitoring in critical environments, such as hospital G2 areas, is crucial for safety, efficiency, and cost savings.
- Early detection of electrical faults helps prevent dangerous situations during critical functions like surgeries.
- Equipment is used more efficiently due to timely, predictable maintenance, reducing operating costs.
- Reliable technology improves scheduling and work-shift organization, boosting hospital staff productivity.
- The lifespan of costly surgical and other equipment is significantly extended, reducing the need for premature replacements.
The electrical current leakage is a real danger to the staff and patients; it can cause a fatal electric shock without any visible signs. That is why we started in 1981. Initially, we had a vision: We aimed to develop a system to improve electrical safety in operating rooms. The first insulation monitoring device, MEV-3, was launched at the beginning of 1982. Our MEV-3 revealed a big problem in hospitals; many more devices had electrical current leakages than expected. Therefore, the authorities decided in 1983 that this kind of equipment became mandatory in Finnish operating rooms. In Europe, the insulation monitoring system became compulsory in 2015.
Our MEV® Insulation Monitoring system has saved lives and protected valuable equipment in Finnish hospitals since 1982. Our fifth-generation MEV®-8 has been in production since 2020. The new-generation equipment meets international standards; we already have distributors in 24 countries.
