ScanModul®

ScanModul® finds it origins in 1912 when the Danish silversmith Georg Larsson started in supplying beds and other equipment to Danish hospitals. After some decades the company specialized in the production of a very extensive product range for use in Scandinavian hospitals and nursing homes.

In the early 1970s a revolutionary modular storage concept was developed and introduced to the Scandinavian market. The ISO standard for 400 x 600 mm modules originated from this system, which was named the “ScanModul System” and gave the company its current name. This system was the base for the further development of the company and was refined over the years through increased market insights and growing experience. Several complementary products were developed, resulting in todays end-to-end supply management system.

Innovations and the continuing extension of the product range bring ScanModul® close to its vision: Providing the healthcare sector worldwide with all storage and transportation needs by offering high quality, ergonomic products and premium services that support the in-house logistical processes. Product lines now include a vast range of modules and baskets, ScanCell® trolleys, CleanLine cabinets, racking, different transport solutions.

In line with this vision, in 2022 ScanModul® acquired BELINTRA, a well-established Belgian provider of safe and smart healthcare solutions. Especially its offerings in secure medication distribution, mobile IT and its Sterisystem® logistics flow for CSSD and OR are a great addition to the existing ScanModul® portfolio.

Over the years ScanModul® evolved from a regional Scandinavian supplier to the largest European vendor in the field of modular systems. Next to its roots in Scandinavia, a new headquarter and modern operations facility were established more centrally in Houten, The Netherlands. Additional branches were opened in Germany, France and Spain and with the support of a complementary sales distribution network ScanModul® today fulfils the needs of more than 8 000 customers in healthcare worldwide.

As the inventor in the field of modular systems, ScanModul® is proud of its leadership position with focus on operational excellence. Today we no longer only look at processes in materials management. Solutions such as SCANflow combine technological developments and the ability to capture data automatically from various aspects of hospitals’ operations resulting in further cost savings, safety and efficiency for the hospital.
