Chief Executive Officer of SMB Corporation of India

Mr. Girish R Shah is the Chief executive officer of the Company. Mr. Girish joined the SMB Board in the year 1985. He graduated in Prosthetic and Orthotic Engineering from All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Mumbai Maharashtra.

Girish R. Shah played a Pivotal role in the Indigenous development of Intrauterine Copper bearing and Copper Alloy Contraceptive Devices in India.

SMB is the pioneer in the Indigenous development of Intrauterine Copper bearing and Copper Alloy Contraceptive Devices in Three Sizes in India.

Mr. Girish has dedicated more than 36 years to Women's Reproductive Health Care.

Today SMB exports an extensive range of IUDs along with IUD accessories Made with Pride in India to more than 140 countries worldwide with 65 million satisfied users worldwide.

Girish Shah has built two world class IUD manufacturing facilities in Jogeshwari and Umbergaon, which are approved by The European Union, United Nations Population Fund , ANVISA , MDSAP and HEALTH CANADA apart from product registrations in 30 countries.

SMB employs 150 people with revenues of approx Rs 250 million per annum.

His latest IUD TCu 380 Ag is manufactured in three sizes Mini, Normal and Maxi . It is approved for sale in Canada , Europe, Brazil, Middle East Asia . It is a big success in terms of offering women an IUD with least menstrual disturbance least side effects and almost nil expulsion rates. The mini size is recommended for nulliparous and the Normal and Maxi Size for multiparous women. This product is also known as the Silver IUD now available in Mini size is a very good alternative with least side effects to nulliparous women on oral contraceptives. A large population of nulliparous women today are on oral hormonal contraceptives this New IUD would be a good cost effective alternative without any side effects seen with hormone based oral contraceptives. The incidence of infection in the New IUD is less because of the presence of Silver and Polyamide monofilament Tie thread.

His new IUD TCu 380 Ag in three sizes is approved for sale in India after multi centric clinical trial with AIIMS New Delhi as the Nodal centre, with clinical study published by FIGO, UK.

He has recently launched a new product “ SMB Luer Lock Syringe with and without Needle” with high-quality easy-to-use features for healthcare Professionals.
